Rally/Press Conference to Pass the DREAM Act as a Standalone Bill

A group of over 50 students will be hosting a rally and press conference to urge the passage of the DREAM Act this year in Congress as a standalone bill. Dora the Explorer will be used as a symbol to represent the plight of undocumented immigrant youth everywhere.

Dora the Explorer is famously known for her adventuress across a borderless world, in which she can travel anywhere and learn anything without consequence. However, in the United States, she is unable to do so, due to enforcement-heavy immigration laws and the lack of opportunities to receive a higher education and prosper.

The DREAM Act can provide relief to the economy. It has been proven that professionals pay between $8,000 and $30,000 in taxes annually. The DREAM Act will allow undocumented students to make future contributions such as these to the economy and in turn help create a stronger, more equal America.

The press conference will feature several undocumented students who will share their stories followed by a street performance featuring Dora’s story.
